GEO Services: Generative Engine Optimization
Generative engine optimization gets your business named and cited when someone asks ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot or Google AI Mode for a recommendation. Those answers are assembled from pages the engines can fetch, trust and quote. This service makes your site one of those pages, and makes sure the rest of the web describes you consistently enough to be recommended.
What generative engine optimization is, and why it is not the same as ranking
A generative engine does not show a list of pages. It writes an answer, and it either names you in it or it does not. To be named, three things have to be true: the engine can fetch and read your pages, your pages contain specific statements worth quoting, and other sources on the web agree about who you are and what you do. Ranking well on Google helps with the first and third, and not at all with the second. Most Pakistani business sites are written in generalities that an engine has no reason to cite.
GEO work therefore runs across the site and off it: crawler permissions and clean rendering, pages rewritten around concrete facts, comparisons and named entities, structured data that ties the brand, people and products together, and a programme of mentions in the places engines already draw on for Pakistan. It overlaps with answer engine optimization, which targets Google’s own answer boxes, and both sit on the same content foundation.
Signs the problem is GEO
- Asking ChatGPT or Gemini for the best provider in your category in your city returns competitors, or nobody
- Perplexity cites directories and marketplaces for facts that are on your site
- AI Overviews appear on your queries and your site is never a listed source
- Your brand is described inaccurately by AI assistants because old listings disagree with your site
- Traffic referred from chatgpt.com or perplexity.ai shows in GA4 but never lands on your money pages
What the GEO service does and does not do
Bounded so it complements the other services rather than repackaging them.
GEO covers
- Baseline of how each engine currently answers prompts about your category, city and brand
- Crawler access and rendering checks for GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, PerplexityBot, ClaudeBot, Google-Extended and Bingbot
- Rewrites that add specific, quotable facts: prices, process, coverage, comparisons, dates, named people
- Organization, Person, Product, Service and sameAs markup that makes the brand unambiguous
- Off-site consistency: listings, profiles, press and partner pages that describe you the same way
- Monthly citation tracking by prompt and engine
It does not cover
- Bulk AI-written content, which engines and Google both discount
- Buying mentions or reviews
- Google Ads, social advertising or influencer work
- Technical rebuilds beyond what blocks fetching and rendering (see technical SEO)
- Guarantees of being named, since no one controls what an engine generates
Included in a GEO engagement
Deliverables are written into the scope. The citation baseline is delivered before any change is made so the effect can be judged honestly.
Citation baseline
A set of prompts a buyer in Pakistan would actually type, run across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot and Google AI Mode, with who is named and which sources are cited. Repeated monthly with the same prompts.
Access and rendering audit
Robots rules, firewall and CDN bot blocking, JavaScript-dependent content and canonical problems that stop engines fetching the pages you want quoted.
Fact-dense rewrites
Priority pages rewritten so each contains statements worth quoting: what you do, for whom, where, at what price band, with what process, by whom. Attributed and dated.
Entity markup
Organization, Person, Service, Product and Offer schema linked with sameAs to the profiles engines already know, so the brand resolves to one entity.
Off-site alignment
A list of every listing, profile and third-party page that describes you, corrected to match, and a short programme of new mentions on sites engines draw on for Pakistan.
Referral measurement
GA4 set up to isolate visits from AI assistants and what those visitors do, alongside the citation log.
How the engagement runs
Baseline
Two weeks. Prompt set agreed, citation baseline and access audit delivered.
Fix access and entity
Blocking removed, schema and profiles aligned. Usually the fastest visible change.
Rewrite priority pages
In batches, most-cited-competitor topics first, each rechecked against the prompt set after recrawl.
Extend and report
Monthly citation log, referral report and the next batch of pages or mentions.
What gets measured
There is no rank tracker for generative engines, so the report is built from repeatable prompt runs and analytics rather than a score.
Who this is for in Pakistan
How it is priced
Quoted as a fixed project for the baseline, access audit and first rewrites, then monthly for tracking, mentions and further pages. It is priced separately from the packages on the pricing page because the off-site work varies a lot by industry. A plain figure is given after a short look at the site and the prompt set.
Questions before you ask for a quote
Can you guarantee ChatGPT will recommend us?
No, and anyone who does is guessing. What can be controlled is whether engines can read you, whether there is anything quotable, and whether the web agrees about you. The monthly log shows whether that is turning into citations.
Is GEO just SEO with a new name?
The foundations overlap: crawlable pages, clear entities, real authority. The difference is what the page has to contain. Generative engines quote specifics and skip generalities, which is the opposite of how most service pages are written.
Should we block AI crawlers to protect our content?
Blocking removes you from the answers. For most businesses the trade is not worth it. The access audit shows what is currently blocked, often by the hosting firewall without anyone deciding it.
Does this work for Urdu and Roman Urdu prompts?
Partly. The engines answer Urdu prompts, usually from English sources. Pages written in both languages with matching entity markup are cited more often. The prompt set includes Urdu prompts where they are relevant.
How is this different from the AEO service?
AEO targets Google’s own answer features on the results page: featured snippets, People Also Ask, direct answers. GEO targets the generated answers of assistants and AI Mode, on and off Google. Many clients need both; the audit says which comes first.
